Have you ever wondered why we are motivated to play video games? James Paul Gee “What Video Games Have to Teach us About Learning and Literacy” gives us a clue in this book. In the chapter Learning and Identity, he suggests four key elements in (designing )for motivation: a) Entice to try. (Easy, familiar,no surprises)
b) Make it Compelling. ( Challenging enough to pay attention to)
c) Make it feel Successful ( A sense of achievement, of moving forward, of making progress.)
d) Give Feedback.( Preferably instantaneously, how well am I doing)
