Exercise and the Elephant.

Working Backwards.

Gym/Exercise – Distraction – and the Elephant.

Elephant is the lazy, unmotivated you. The “elephant game” is the Fitbit, the lazy unmotivated you. The Fitbit is the distraction to move, engage your elephant. It is also the motivator to get you moving, for example “I could go on longer” or “I could have gone on longer”. It is almost as if the elephant is speaking to you. The Fitbit is also another feedback mechanism as it records and tabulates how far you have gone. It is a quantifiable mechanic showing how much progress you have made, so far. Every time you look at your score it triggers an emotional reward inside of you.

Then fresh questions come to mind, the future thinking, the possibilities. “How am I going to go longer next time?” Or “How many steps are possible in a day?” Or “I need to find new ways to get the steps in”. The elephant is now hooked!! Only then can you sneak in the health benefits of exercise! This is working backwards.
